Currently we can only import data from Excel worksheets saved as XLS files.
If you have a file in the newer XLSX format, then you can save it as an XLS file by clicking on File > Save As. In the Save dialog box there will be a drop-down for 'Save as type'. Set this option to 'Excel 97-2003 Workbook (.xls)'
The worksheet you import should be a simple grid, with one row per item, bidder or donor. Do not include any sophisticated formatting or grouping of columns that might confuse the import process, though you can include a header row.
